Accident damaged vans.

Any insurance problems in buying an accident damaged van for conversion? I’m friendly with a guy who buys damaged vehicles and sorts them out. I have known him for 30 years and in that time he has done dozens if not up to a 100 different cars and vans. These are light damage only and as a body specialist he gets them as new again. I’m off to see him and to check what he can and can’t get. Just wondering if anyone else has gone down this route?

I think the only ‘problem’ you’re likely to have is on agreed valuation. Also, remember you V5C will show that it has been damaged and repaired.
Frankly, if you’re buying a van to keep and use, without thought of any future value, I don’t see a problem. You know the man, he’s experienced.
I’ve had a couple at cat c repaired cars and never had problems. Having said all this, I’m sure others will have their views!

Thanks Stevie, called this afternoon, big problem, his garage doors are not tall enough for high vans. End of thread for me. Your right, many of my friends use his repaired cars. No problems they'll probably be knocked down on resale. But a cheaper way to get a better car in the beginning. Cheers.
